I am thirteen years old.
I am not typical.
I am not average.
I am me.
I have been in two mental facilities.
Both times for thoughts of suicide.
I am not emo.
I am not a freak.
I am me.
My mother attempted suicide about six months ago.
My sister attempted suicide when i was eight.
But, I am not a victim.
I am not tortured.
I am me.
My father had a heart attack just over a week ago.
He was hospitalized for nine days.
He recently returned to the hospital for kidney problems.
I suffer from Bipolar Disorder with Psychotic Features.
I have hallucinations.
I have delusions.
But I am not a disorder.
I am not my difficulties.
I am not my troubles.
I am me.

You notice a boy wearing glasses
And you tease him with the name "four-eyes."
There's a group of peace lovers;
You proclaim they're annoying hipsters.
The teenage boys who love each other;
You tear them asunder by calling them abominations.
Do you find pleasure
In being the source of a poor soul's ago

With the sad, sad eyes.
To the boy I met
Who wasn't allowed to cry.
To the man I saw
Who was falsely accused.
To the woman I met
Who was badly abused.
This is my ode to you
For you live on despite it.
I'm so proud of you
For you can still fight it.
The world is against you,
But it's not your fault.
It's just the way
This world was taught.
So live on, live on,
Don't you give up here.
It gets better later,
The light is near.
I believe in you,
I know you can make it.
I'll reach out my hand,
If you need it, just take it.
You're special,
You're important,
You're not invisible,
You exist,
And you'll be fine.
